Boheme Sauvage parties -a tribute to the “golden roaring 20s” in Berlin, which were marked not only by balancing on the edge of crisis, but also by blossoming “burning down nights” at multiple cabarets and balls along with magnificent cinema productions and innovative theater.

Berlin soil has remained the most suitable for such  decadence parties now days, too. These days hundreds of gorgeously dressed guests gather in the best salon rooms of the belle-epoque: Wintergarten Variete, Gruener salon or Postfuhramt in Berlin’s Mitte. Some 4 years ago “Boheme Sauvage” started as private party  for friends at their organiser’s home at Friedrichshain, Fräulein Else Edelstahl (Inga Jacob).

Impressively people do like to dress-up stylishly, which creates half of the atmosphere. Girls spend hours recreating “wasser welle”- hairstyle at the hair-dressers, and meticulously search or compose the  accessoires, from long gloves, feather clips to kilograms of false pearl strings. In the twilight of the salon or at the poker table, everybody looks just glamorous. Not a single mis-fit in the whole crowd!.. Styles (the dress code is very strict)accepted are: dandy, 20s-50s, glamor or diva. The guests are softly advised to avoid glitchy and plastic stuff. There are a few shops in Berlin which are extremely useful for a thoughrough preparation:  Charming styles” in Prenzlauerberg, textile antiques in Schoeneberg at Mimi”(Goltzstr.) , or also online resource, for some details of decoration or shoes, Vicona Vintage.

The setting is thought through the tiniest details- designed “money” (20 Million Reichs-mark banknotes to buy casino tokens, which have a “boheme sauvage” stamp on it), special “depesche” paper sheet the means of a delicate communication between the participants (one could choose “pick-up” printed lines to specify his interest” : ), music: swing live bands and performances (usually a high class burlesque show) and a silent movie salon. A real eye-catcher and a highlight of the night is the moderator of the evening, enfant terrible Coco, with his  brilliant step-dance- performance, showering with champaign and fixing his step-shoes with a tiny screwdriver in between gags.

Once dropped by to this mundane entertainment society and danced in the vapors of Absynthe, one can get really hooked by its nostalgic-magic aura: an excuse to play, to flirt with style, to dress-up, to travel in time, even if it is an illusion.. A guy from the roulette table in a smoking confessed to me: “I came here for the BS number 8”/and i am still here/..
